“One day, little Black boys and Black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.”

Sixty years ago on August 28, American civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his iconic “I have a dream” speech at the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, calling for an end to racism and inequality in the United States.

The speech galvanised millions and still inspires people fighting income inequality, police brutality and racial discrimination decades later.
