Bill Welser asks a poignant question: Are we smarter than the dinosaurs? Believed to have been devastated by one of the largest asteroids ever to strike Earth, the dinosaurs had no chance of surviving the impact of a 6 mile wide space rock. Bill considers the technologies at our disposal to prevent future strikes and questions whether we are actually in a better position to stave off destruction than those prehistoric beasts. He shares that we do not currently have tested tools to use to prevent history from repeating itself, but nonetheless concludes in a profound manner that the basis for the ultimate planet-saving solution actually resides in plain site: We just haven't accessed it yet.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
