Basel Adra addresses UN during screening of his Oscar-winning film ‘No Other Land’

“I wanted the world to see what we face on a daily basis under this brutal occupation”

Basel Adra, co-director of the historic Palestinian documentary “No Other Land”, shared remarks at a screening of his Oscar-winning film at the United Nations.

Invited to speak by the UN Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, Adra denounced journalists for appearing uninterested in the plight of his family and community, particularly in the village collective of Masaffer Yatta in the southern occupied West Bank.

Adra’s documentary chronicles a violent series of Israeli settler attacks launched against the Palestinian people of Masaffer Yatta.

On March 24, Adra’s co-director Hamdan Ballal was assaulted and abducted by extremist settlers as an act of revenge for their Oscar win.
