The most intense fighting in Ukraine is still centred on the eastern city of Bakhmut, where local forces say they're repelling up to 50 Russian attacks a day.

While that is happening, Ukraine has started training new units for what's expected to be a vigorous counter-offensive in the coming months. The Russian city of Belgorod, which borders Ukraine, is also once again experiencing some turbulence.
