Isaac Bogoch is an Internist and Infectious Diseases specialist with a focus on Tropical Medicine and HIV at the University Health Network in Toronto.

Isaac’s Global Health work concentrates on the development and implementation of innovative, simple diagnostic tests that can help improve the quality of care delivered by health professionals of all backgrounds in rural, remote, and resource-limited settings. His work evaluates improving existing tools, like the use of the medical history and physical examination, and more technical tools such as microscopic devices. One area of focus is the use of portable microscopes to aid in the diagnosis of common parasitic infections, including the use of mobile phones converted into microscopes. Isaac collaborates with an international, interdisciplinary team with the ultimate aim of improving healthcare delivery in low-income countries.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
