Embrace Your Movement: Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard, President, Montgomery College at TEDxBethesdaWomen

DeRionne P. Pollard is a daughter, a sister, a mother, a
wife, an African American, and an openly-gay community college president.
Because of movements that came before—from Seneca Falls to Selma to
Stonewall—she has been empowered to become a leader in the educational world.
She currently serves as president of Montgomery College, the largest community
college in the state of Maryland with 60,000 credit and non-credit students. Dr.
Pollard has embraced all the components that make her who she is today—her own
movement—so that she can empower others to embrace their own.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
