European leaders in Ukraine’s Kiev urge Russia to agree to 30-day ceasefire

French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk have arrived in Ukraine’s capital, Kiev, urging Russia to agree to a 30-day ceasefire, just hours after President Vladimir Putin hosted his allies in Moscow.

Putin has resisted the proposal for a 30-day unconditional ceasefire put forward by US President Donald Trump as a step towards ending the conflict.

The European leaders pledged to continue strengthening their support for Ukraine, stating, “Until Russia agrees to a lasting ceasefire, we will intensify pressure on Russia’s war machine.”
