Jackie Rotman, '12, founded Everybody Dance Now! (EDN!) at age 14 to help underserved youth build self-esteem and establish healthy lifestyles. Featured on MTV's America's Best Dance Crew, EDN! is a national, youth-led movement and sustainable organization that has served over 5,000 students in 12 cities. Rotman was recognized as one of Glamour's Top Ten College Women for her work with EDN!. A graduate of Stanford's Public Policy Program, Rotman was the first nonprofit leader in Stanford's StartX accelerator, and has worked at the Bridgespan Group, a leading social-sector consultancy. Formerly EDN!'s executive director, Rotman is now the executive director of Spark, a nonprofit philanthropic network based in San Francisco with 11,000 young professional members who have invested in grants and services for grassroots women's organizations, globally and locally.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
