Benny Johnson was raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  He graduated from the University of Iowa in 2009 with a Psychology degree and after working for a tech company in Germany for two years, returned to Washington DC to report on politics and technology.  Benny has worked for four national news outlets in Washington and is most recently the Viral Politics editor at BuzzFeed, reporting at the intersection of politics and the internet.  

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
