Hong Kong is the preferred destination for about 60% of Chinese mainland enterprises canvassed in the Bohai Rim economic region seeking to invest externally and receive overseas services, according to a new survey by HKTDC Research. Senior Economist for Greater China, Wing Chu, says Bohai results match those of the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions done over recent times. Besides direct investment, mainland enterprises aiming to “go out” seek Hong Kong-based finance, legal, accounting, marketing, brand strategy and technology services – making Hong Kong the “first port of call” for outward-bound investors.
