Guilherme Torres: Mangue Groove at Design Miami 2013 / Interview

Brazilian Designer Guilherme Torres is known for his innovative residential and commercial architectural projects as well as his furniture and interiors line. The award-winning architect and designer was born in Londrina, Brazil, and graduated from UNIFIL University in 1998. I 2001, Torres founded his studio in Londrina, Parana, Brazil, in 2010, Studio Guilherme Torres moved to Sao Paulo. VernissageTV met with Guilherme Torres at Design Miami 2013 on the occasion of the presentation of the installation Mangue Groove that he created for Swarovski Crystal Palace. In this video, Guilherme Torres talks about the basic ideas behind the installation, his identity as an architect, designer and artist, and upcoming projects.

Guilherme Torres' experimental architectural installation Mangue Groove is inspired by Mangrove forests -- mangue in Portuguese. It incorporates Swarovski's lead-free Advanced Crystal that fill synthetic tubes, linked by geometric joints and lit with energy efficient LEDs.
