This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. [English subtitles to be added shortly]
Ela tells us about how she lost her passport whilst traveling to Serbia and how it made for a screenplay for her film Olena that would feature at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

It's not by coincidence she was born on the day of Roman Polanski's 55 birthday. Daughter of a shipyard worker and accountant, sister of a mathematician, granddaughter of 3 Kashubians and citizen of Gdansk who decided to become a film director. It started with a short film about a ice hockey player and more recently focusing on fictional films. A graduate of the Gydnia School of Film and Slavic studies at the University of Gdańsk. She recieved her graduate diploma for the film Olena.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
