Israeli troops getting ready for ground invasion of Lebanon

Israel releases footage of its troops and tanks gathered at the Northern border before announcing a “limited, localised” ground invasion in Lebanon, targeting for now “villages close to the border”.

“Operation ‘Northern Arrows’ will continue according to the situational assessment and in parallel to combat in Gaza and in other arenas,” the Israeli army said on X. “These operations were approved and carried out in accordance with the decision of the political echelon.”

This ground incursion into Lebanon, a sovereign state, is in violation of international law, and comes just days following the assassination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and consecutive days of shelling throughout Beirut and southern Lebanese villages.

Israel killed over 1,000 people in Lebanon in recent weeks, wounding some other 6,000 people.
