No Limits: Winter Vinecki at TEDxSalem

Winter founded Team Winter, a 501(c)3, at the age of 9 after losing her 40-year-old dad to prostate cancer. To date, she has helped raise over $400,000 for prostate cancer research and awareness. Winter is an Olympic hopeful for the 2018 Winter Olympics in aerial skiing which has her living in Park City, UT and training at the Utah Olympic Park right now instead of with her family in Salem. Competing in triathlons since age five, 14 year-old Winter is a two-time triathlon National Champion and as of November 10, 2013 she just finished running a marathon on every continent. Winter now holds the WORLD RECORD as the youngest person ever to accomplish this feat! Her hard work and dedication to this world record is in honor of her dad and the 1 in 6 men affected by prostate cancer.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
