In this web exclusive video, documentary filmmaker Ric Burns ("Death and the Civil War") compares the death of George Plimpton, a journalist and native New Yorker, to a light going out at the top of the Empire State Building. Plimpton died on September 25, 2003, and is the subject of "Plimpton! Starring George Plimpton as Himself" on American Masters, premiering Friday, May 16, 2014, at 9 pm on PBS (check local listings).
