Strandbeest: The Dream Machines of Theo Jansen

During Art Basel Miami Beach, Theo Jansen presented his Strandbeests (beach beasts), kinetic, wind-powered creatures mainly made of yellow plastic tubes (PVC) that are able to move on their own. The exhibition in Miami Beach featured six of Jansen’s newest Strandbeests, and previewed the first major U.S. tour of Jansen’s Strandbeests in 2015-2016. The tour will start at PEM in Fall 2015, then travel to Chicago, San Francisco and New York City.
