A video of two men riding on motorised surfboards along Venice’s Grand Canal on August 17 has caused national outrage.

The two were seized, expelled from the city, and fined for endangering the navigation of the canal, according to local media. Venice, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will also start proceedings against the surfers for damaging the image of the city.
