Tonight I'm joined by legendary broadcaster, Norman Lear, who without question changed the television landscape with groundbreaking shows like "All in the Family", "Maude," "Good Times," "The Jeffersons" and "One Day At A Time." In their heyday, his shows were watched by more than 120 million people each week -- a feat that has yet to be duplicated.
His series, done in collaboration with Bud Yorkin and others, took on issues that television previously had ignored: racial bias, economic disparities, even rape and abortion. He's now 92, and the author of a long awaited memoir titled "Even This I Get to Experience".
In the clip below Norman Lear explains why he was so willing to take on the networks and make the sort of series he knew America would watch.
