Telling a Story | Aamina Nizar | TEDxColombo

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. She talks about how pictures can be more powerful than words, but a photograph without context is dangerous as it only requires shifting the angle. People don't deconstruct photographs anymore, but the people are dependent on the images around them to understand the world and their part in it. She calls for the audience to not just read articles that people have posted online and wait for the photographs to come to them.

Aamina Nizar is a freelance photographer based in Colombo Sri Lanka. After receiving her degree and training in Media and Photography in Mumbai she now specializes in travel, documentary, jewelry, product and industrial photography.

Her work consists of an extensive portfolio of India and Sri Lanka. Apart from photography she likes to work for environmental and humanitarian causes. She is also a history buff bringing her love for history to middle school kids.
