The future(s) of faith and science: Jason Johns at TEDxBellingen

Bio: Jason completed an honours degree in zoology before taking a year off to assess PhD options. To everyone's surprise he converted to Christianity instead, and is now a Uniting Church minister. Finally completing a PhD which combined ecology and theology, he is now part of Uniting Earth Ministry.

Topic: The future(s) of faith and science. Judeo-Christianity includes several competing visions of the future, all with their secular equivalents. One is good for selfish Australians. One is good for the orthodox, and selfish rich people and brainy jocks. One is fabulous for everyone (but sadly not going to happen). There is a fourth, but the secular version is no easier than the religious one.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
