“Collateral Murder” was the name given by WikiLeaks to the recording of a US Army helicopter attack in Baghdad during the Iraq war in 2007. The video shows journalists and innocent Iraqi civilians, including Sajad’s father as he stopped to help, being circled and then repeatedly shot at from the American helicopter.

The classified footage, allegedly showing potential war crimes, was made public in 2010 by publisher Julian Assange, for which he was facing a 175-year prison sentence in the US.

In June 2024, Assange pleaded guilty to a single charge of conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defense information under a deal allowing him to walk free after a 14-year legal battle.
