When Bronx Zoo Curator of Ornithology William Beebe added two women scientists to the staff of his Department of Tropical Research nearly a century ago, what mattered most in a researcher, said Beebe, is "what is above the ears." Since our founding in 1895, WCS has been at the forefront with women in leadership roles. From the field to the zoos and aquarium, from the front office to behind the scenes – photographers, veterinarians, designers, lawyers, educators and trustees – in this short video, we celebrate the women who will continue to guide the Society into our next century and beyond.
