An imaginative scientific future: Marc Creus atTEDxGundeldingen

Marc Creus is a passionate believer in the central importance of science and chemistry in an increasingly interdisciplinary world. Born in Girona, Catalonia (Spain), Dr Creus gained a BSc from the University of Durham and a PhD at the University of Cambridge. He has been a co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of a biotech startup company. He has lived in Germany, Austria and the French-speaking part of Switzerland before moving to Basel, where he currently leads the Laboratory of Molecular Evolution at the Department of Chemistry of the University. He is President of the Multilingual Toastmasters Club, won the Basel Science Slam 2013 and, in general, also enjoys participating in science outreach programs.

Marc Creus ist überzeugt von der zentralen Bedeutung von Wissenschaft und Chemie in einer zunehmend interdisziplinären Welt. Der gebürtige Spanier (Girona, Katalonien), Dr. Creus hat einen BSc von der Universität in Durham und promovierte in Cambridge. Er war Mitbegründer und ist wissenschaftlicher Amtsleiter eines Biotech-Startup-Unternehmens. Er hat in Deutschland, Österreich und der Westschweiz gelebt, bevor er nach Basel kam, wo er derzeit das Labor für Molekulare Evolution an der Fakultät für Chemie an der Universität Basel führt. Er ist Präsident des Multilingual Toastmasters Club, hat den Basel Science Slam 2013 gewonnen und geniesst es an wissenschaftlichen Freizeitprogrammen teilzunehmen.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
