Barış Urhan, Legislative Fellowship Programı hakkında bilgi veriyor ve sizleri 2015 yılı için bu programa başvurmaya davet ediyor.
Barış Urhan, TÜSİAD'da TBMM ile ilişkiler Uzmanı olarak çalışmaktadır. Görevi itibariyle TBMM ile yakından çalışan Urhan aynı zamanda Bakanlıklar ve Büyükelçiliklerle de belirli düzeylerde görüşmeler yürütmektedir.
Urhan 2013 ylında, 6 haftalık ABD’de Yasal Sürece Katılım Programına (Legislative Fellowship Program) katıldı. Program kapsamında 1 hafta Washington DC'de oryantasyona tabi tutuldu, ardından çalışma yeri olan Temsilciler Meclisi'ndeki 4 haftalık programına katıldı. Temsilciler Meclisi'nde, Washington State 7. Bölge Temsilcisi Jim McDermott'un ofisinde görev alan Urhan, birçok toplantı ve organizasyona katılma imkanı buldu.
Urhan, Temsilci Sn. McDermott'un "açık kapı" politikası sayesinde, 4 haftalık programı dahilinde her toplantısına katılma imkanı buldu. Bu toplantılarda ABD iç ve dış siyaseti hakkında birçok bilgi edindi, tecrübe kazandı.
Programının bir diğer önemli tecrübesi ise ABD'de bulunduğu sürede Temsilciler Meclisi ve Senato arasındaki ilişkilerin nasıl ilerlediği ve bunun ABD Başkanı'nın politikaları üzerindeki etkilerinin neler olduğu hakkında daha derinlemesine bilgi edinebilmesiydi.
Urhan ABD'de geçirdiği süre içerisinde ABD yasama sistemi hakkında önemli bir tecrübe edindi. Bu tecrübesini iş yaşamındaki bilgi birikiminin gelişimi ve vizyonu açısından değerli görmekte, LFP tecrübesini ilgili herkese tavsiye ediyor.

Barış Urhan, 2013 Legislative Fellows Program Alumnus, Invites You to Apply to Legislative Fellowship Program 2015
In 2013, Mr. Barış Urhan participated in a six-week Legislative Fellowship Program in the USA. Within the scope of the program, he first attended a one-week orientation program in Washington, and then worked for four weeks at the office of Congressman Jim McDermott, House of Representatives.
Thanks to his open door practice, Mr. Urhan had the opportunity to attend all of Mr. McDermott’s meetings and thus gained first-hand knowledge of the U.S. government’s domestic and foreign policies.
He feels very fortunate to have been able to observe how federal budget negotiations at the House of Representatives can have a tremendous impact on the President’s policy implementations. Mr. Urhan said of the experience: “The budget negotiations at House of Representatives impacted President Obama’s new term policies even though his party had the majority vote in the Senate. It was a highly valuable experience for me to observe this process in the USA, during a time of very heated public debate about the presidency system in Turkey.”
Mr. Urhan voluntarily took on some additional tasks and also attended ‘Race for the Cure’, which takes place in Washington annually to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. He says: “Thousands of people came very early on a freezing Sunday. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed being a part of that event.”
