MDC videographer Kevin Muenks recently captured video of these blue grosbeak nestlings and their mother.
Nestlings defecate immediately after being fed and produce a fecal sac, a small, white gelatinous pouch that can be carried away from the nest.
Birds keep feces out of the nest for cleanliness and to help the nest stay less noticeable to predators that can sniff it out.
