For her 5th solo exhibition, artist Maya Gelfman felt she needed to create something completely new - to challenge herself and surprise her audience.
She embarked on a year long artistic experiment, a quest to reinvent and rediscover the process of creation.
What she learned was that the road to such discovery meant accepting randomness
and uncertainty to be tools as valid as a paintbrush and a pallet of colors are,
and from there to follow her intuition.
It's all about letting the moment, every single moment,
influence choices and actions, and letting art - and life - happen.
In this TEDx talk, she decided to practice what she preached,
creating her talk onstage, on the fly, out of not knowing.
Maya Gelfman is an Artist and street-artist. Her fifth solo exhibition opened in November in Jaffa-Tel Aviv. She has participated in dozens of exhibitions, and her works have been covered in print, web and television across the globe.
She remains active in the street-art scene, parallel to the gallery and museum world -
thus maintaining a direct and unhindered contact with the public.
Her best known street project is "Mind the Heart!", in which small, red woolen hearts
mark frames in the urban landscapes, in an attempt to create a moment of awareness.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
