Geeta Chandran is synonymous with the Indian classical dance: Bharatanatyam. She began learning Bharatanatyam from the tender age of 5 years under the tutelage of Smt. SwarnaSaraswathy.
Today she is a renowned artist who has synthesised the knowledge she received from her Gurus to imprint Bharatanatyam with her personal vision of the dance. In her dance presentations GeetaChandran skilfully weaves abstract notions of Joy, Beauty, Values, Aspirations, Myth and Spirituality.
In recognition of her vast and varied contribution to Bharatanatyam, Geeta was awarded the prestigious national award -- the Padma Shri -- by the President of India in 2007.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.*
