Energizing The Future: Dr. Bala Venkatesh at TEDxRyersonU

Dr. Bala Venkatesh is both founding Academic Director and the head of Ryerson Centre for Urban Energy. He is also a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ryerson University and investigator for two significant research projects funded by Hydro One and Toronto Hydro. Bala's talk revolves around two premises - one, where does our hydro come from; two, the idea that finding alternative energy sources to replace fossil fuels is only half the battle. He proposes an alternative view, a different perspective, by looking at the very real and very pressing issue of energy creation and consumption from a new angle.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
