After a 15-year marketing career with high-performing multi-nationals, Golnaz Golnaraghi pursued her passion in 2006 to teach. Golnaz is a Business professor at Sheridan College, whose research interests include diversity, identity and discourse. Her current focus is on Muslim womens' identities and how dominant interpretations made about them may or may not become the lynchpin of their identity. It is this research that led Golnaz to reflect on her own personal journey as an immigrant from Iran and explore the notion of hybrid identities.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
