Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway Corporation is a “reference customer” for technology business regionally and globally, says the regional head of France-based, advanced technology firm, Thales Group. James Kilazoglue, CEO of Thales Transport & Security (HK), says that carrying the largest proportion of mass transit travellers in the world, the MTR provides a professional environment for many other business opportunities, such as for Thales’ smart card expertise, which it has exported to India. Thales also relies predominantly on Hong Kong-educated engineers and, in Hong Kong, has established an innovation centre and security competence capabilities for the Asia Pacific region.
