We use our imagination, our bodies, and our senses to makes the invisible visible. With a hunger for authenticity, Barbara Colaciello explains why improvisation is an integral part of everyone's education.

Barbara Colaciello received her BFA from Rider University and earned her Actor's Equity card at the age of 20 performing in summer stock at Bucks County Playhouse, PA. Barbara worked with Andy Warhol for six years at the Factory as the Advertising Director of Interview Magazine. Further pursuing her passion for acting, she studied at the Warren Robertson Studio in NYC and at Lee Strasberg's Real Stage. After her Warhol years, she worked with her brother, Vanity Fair Magazine writer Bob Colacello, for 10 years managing his many projects.

Barbara has collaborated extensively with poet, playwright and National NPR Radio Host, Al Letson, as his acting coach and director/producer of many of his plays. Her original one-woman show, "Life on the Diagonal," had its NYC debut at Theater Lab in April of 2008. In 2010, Players by the Sea in partnership with the Cummer Museum commissioned Barbara to research, write and perform a solo show, "Sustaining Beauty," about founder Ninah May Holden Cummer for the Cummer Museum's 50th Anniversary.

For the past 16 years, Barbara has produced/directed numerous children's plays and collaborative theater pieces, initially as the founder/artistic director of Inter-Act, an acting school specializing in improvisation and currently as the Education Director at Players by the Sea Theater based in Jacksonville Beach, FL. As part of PBTS's outreach initiative, she has developed programming for children with learning disabilities partnering with The Noble School, and The DePaul School.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
