Santa Ana Cathedra, an imposing brown stone building whose twin towers dominate the old town, has for centuries been the largest religious building in the Canary Islands. TENERIFE is known as the island of eternal spring. Santa Cruz De Tenerife, north east of the island, is its capital, port and commercial metropolis with classical buildings and splendid monuments that indicate its colourful past.
