Israel blocking hundreds of aid trucks as Gaza starves

Blockade of humanitarian aid by Israel is causing starvation deaths in besieged Gaza.

More than 2,000 trucks carrying humanitarian aid and commercial goods are stuck on the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing, the EU aid officials say, demanding a “sustained, unimpeded, and safe humanitarian access.”

Meanwhile, many people in Gaza are currently facing “catastrophic hunger and famine-like conditions”, according to WHO.

“Despite reports of increased delivery of food, there is currently no evidence that those who need it most are receiving sufficient quantity and quality of food,” the UN agency says, adding that more than 8,000 children under 5 have already been diagnosed and treated for acute malnutrition.

Multiple countries and aid organisations have accused Israel of using starvation as a weapon of war against Palestinians of Gaza.
