For the first time in almost 600 years, Krasheninnikov Volcano in Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula has erupted.
The ash plume reportedly reached 6,000m into the atmosphere. Experts suggest the eruption may be linked to a recent major earthquake in Russia's far east. According to the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team, the volcano's last known lava activity occurred around 1463
