Après l'obtention d'un baccalauréat en ingénierie à l'Université McGill en 2000, Jonathan Goyette enseigne les mathématiques en Côte d'Ivoire pendant deux ans. Son expérience en Afrique le motive à entreprendre des études de cycles supérieurs sur le développement des pays pauvres. Ainsi, il obtient sa maîtrise en gestion internationale à HEC Montréal en 2004 puis son doctorat en économie à l'Université de Colombie-Britannique. Jonathan Goyette est professeur au département d'économique de l'Université de Sherbrooke depuis 2010. Ses intérêts de recherche portent sur les causes de la pauvreté dans les pays en développement, notamment sur la corruption et les contraintes de crédit. Il est l'auteur d'un recueil de nouvelles, intitulé Le Saboteur d'avenir.

He received his MA in International Management at HEC Montréal in 2004 and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of British Columbia. Jonathan Goyette is a professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Sherbrooke in 2010. His research interests focus on the causes of poverty in developing countries, including corruption and credit constraints. He is the author of a collection of short stories entitled Le Saboteur d'avenir.
