Madeira - a part of Portugal - is an island near the coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean. The island has a mild climate and its main assets are its legendary flowers and natural beauties. Madeira’s name is strongly connected with the wine and a handcraft of the same name. In the center of the Wine Company we can taste and buy this fantastic drink as well as take a look at its history. In the mountain village of Monte lies the last Habsburg royalty, and this is the place where the famous toboggan sleds can be seen. Camacha is famous of its basket makers while Moniz of its cave spa. In Santana the tourists can see many thatched houses so characteristic of the island. The landscape is full of volcanic stones, basalt rocks, deep gorges, black-sanded beaches and mountaintops hardly visible in the mist.
