African countries have enormous potential to increase trade with each other and to the global market -- exploiting this potential will diversify economies, create jobs and reduce poverty. Women play a key role in trade in Africa, as farmers and producers of tradable goods, as cross-border traders and as managers and owners of firms that trade. They will be at the heart of Africa's success in expanding trade.

This documentary tells of the experiences of women that took advantage of trade opportunities and, despite gender-related challenges and barriers, successfully seized foreign markets. Their stories show that eliminating gender-specific barriers will boost trade in Africa.

A new World Bank report: "Women and Trade in Africa: Realizing the Potential" explores this issue in detail. These are the stories behind the research.
