Looking at the grave issues of Yemen, I would have to point out that the drone strikes by the U.S is probably the highest danger the country faces amongst poverty, women's rights, education etc.
The question arises however, why is the elite in Yemen silent over such a serious issue?

Anyone interested in Martin Luther King's views against militarism Vietnam will find the following youtube link invaluable and relevant to my argument:

Martin Luther King here reminds us all of having to speak the truth.

This was 1967 and not much has changed in regards to the foreign policy of that super power and if we remain passive in our positions of leadership it will continue for another 50 years.

Updates

- As of 21st May 2012 a suicide bomber in army uniform detonated an explosive belt at a military parade rehearsal in Sanaa, killing more than 90 soldiers and wounding at least 200 more. This in response to drone strikes. I fear further instability in Yemen which is directly linked to the U.S drone strikes. Yemen is quickly becoming another Pakistan.

- As of 3rd June 2012 Tawwakul Karman indicates "Fighting terrorists is a goal of our revolution, and we welcome the participation of the US and the international community, but the only ones with the interest to combat Al Qaida in our country are the Yemeni people,"

- As of 08/11/12 Tawakul Karman, told the Financial Times that the Yemeni people rejected drones, whether they were American or Yemeni, and argued they helped terrorist groups to recruit.

- As of 09/11/12 Further drone strikes

Blogger and activist, Ibrahim Mothana, tweeted in apparent reference to Barack Obama: "Drone strikes in a "Secret War" by a "Nobel Peace Laureate"! Life can't get more surreal #Yemen".

A welcomed stance in voicing opposition to drones...

My opinion is to come to the negotiating table and see what grievances the militants have. Just as Imran Khan of the PTI (Pakistan) suggested in the tribal areas. Only this will save the country from a possible civil war.
Leadership must have foresight take decisions in favour of the Yemenis and not for imperialistic powers such as the U.S.
