This report highlights the dangers of drone strikes in Yemen. Majority of drone casualties being civilians. What will be the outcome of such a policy?

Like Pakistan it will only fuel disillusion, animosity and further instability to an already fractured nation beset with poverty, unemployment and a host of other problems.

As PTI leader of Pakistan Imran Khan states in response to drone attacks in Pakistan "journalists and columnists who had previously presented themselves as anti-imperialist liberals suddenly backed our surrender to the US "war on terror", and their silence on the threat to Pakistani soverignty and to their countrymen being bombarded was deafening. Most shockingly, some of those who call themselves liberals have backed the bombing of villages, whether by drones, the Pakistan air force helicopter gunships or artillery, and have accepted the deaths of innocent civilians, women and children as "collateral damage". The NGO's did nothing, as most were funded by Western donors, and the mainstream parties were likewise silent because they were so scared of losing Washington's backing"

Its time for the liberals of Yemen to speak out.

As of 21st May 2012 a suicide bomber in army uniform detonated an explosive belt at a military parade rehearsal in Sanaa, killing more than 90 soldiers and wounding at least 200 more. I fear further instability in Yemen which is directly linked to the U.S drone strikes. Yemen is quickly becoming another Pakistan.
