David Kaplan is a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy of The Johns Hop- kins University.He is a theoretical physicist whose research interests involve the particular focus on the Higgs mechanism and high profile topics of new fundamental forces, extra dimensions, and dark matter. Kaplan has co-hosted National Geographic Channel's Known Universe documentary in 2011.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
