Jess Gillam, a 15 year old saxophonist from Ulverston, has just become one of five woodwind finalists in the BBC Young Musician of the Year. The classical music competition will be broadcast on BBC Four and BBC Two in April this year. Jess is also set to play with music legend Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra in Summer this year in Carlisle.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
