This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Kinshuk's love of technology and science allowed him to foster research which resulted in the invention of OncoFilter--a biochip to detect cancers and other diseases using the cells and proteins they produce.

Kinshuk Mitra is a 20 year-old senior in the biomedical engineering program at OSU. He is a Pelotonia Research Fellow and an Engineering Research Scholar. In 2013, Kinshuk invented a biochip to detect cancers and other diseases using the cells and proteins they produce.

The company, OncoFilter Inc., (for which he is the CTO and lead inventor) was co-founded to commercialize the technology. The company won the OSU Business Plan and the Rice Business plan Shark Tank. The technology is now being commercialized by partnerships with Nationwide Children's Hospital and The Ohio State University's James Cancer Center. In addition, Kinshuk also created a class on innovation and creativity (ENGR 4891) and organized the syllabus and found instructors. Furthermore, Kinshuk has two scientific papers, two provisional patents and one peer-reviewed grant award.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
