Priceless Education: Erik Thorstensson at TEDxStockholmSalon

Erik believes creativity needs to be fostered and not smothered in the early years of a child education. Getting hands on experimentation with everything, from code to construction, helps getting there and demystifying everything, from computers to manufacturing. Erik and Creatables have shown that connecting schools to the local maker communities and science centers, let engineers and creatives from all areas pay their knowledge forward in a very exciting way that helps both teachers and students engaging in fantastic learning experiences. And best of all, almost all lesson materials in the program can be made from local waste in and around the schools, so the kids can keep learning after school hours.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
