The exhibition of the Danish artist group Superflex (Jakob Fenger, Rasmus Nielsen and Bjørnstjerne Christiansen) is titled The Corrupt Show and the Speculative Machine. The title reflects Superflex's attempts to destabilize social norms and processes and to provoke reflection on the speculative possibilities of social transformation. By encouraging subjects to engage in corrupt activities, Superflex suggests that the act of corrupting might, paradoxically, have a productive social role to play.
Superflex establishes links with sites of economic production outside the museum or gallery. The collective intends to transform part of the space where the exhibition is held into an agency for distributing products into the outside world, thereby explicitly integrating the structure of economic production into the institutional space. Outside of the exhibition venue, Superflex intends to activate a series of works which will occupy different locations at different times, and which will create a dynamic platform for members of the public to participate.
Superflex is an artists' group founded in 1993 by Jakob Fenger, Rasmus Nielsen and Bjørnstjerne Christiansen. Superflex describe their projects as Tools. A tool is a model or proposal that can actively be used and further utilized and modified by the user.
The exhibition is curated by Patrick Charpanel and Daniel McClean. The show runs until February 2, 2014.
