This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Andrea, through a personal vignette, confronts the internal struggles we all face that make us self-conscious, questions how the perceptions of others can govern our outward appearances, and challenges the audience to be their authentic selves.
Andrea Holland always finds reasons to laugh loudly, ask revealing questions, and find out what drives people to do what they do. A communications consultant with 13 years of experience in public relations & marketing, radio & television broadcasting, video production, and organizational learning & development, Andrea has approached professional communications from nearly every angle.
Most recently, in 2011, she launched her own consulting business in which she coaches professionals and teams on how to communicate better with the audiences that matter most to them. When she's not working with her private clients, Andrea also works as a commercial voiceover and video artist for local and national projects. Andrea is a 2001 graduate of SUNY Geneseo.
An active community volunteer, Andrea is a recently retired board member of Sustain, Inspire, Survive, an organization that provides financial assistance to patients battling breast cancer. She also volunteers for causes that support animal welfare and cures for childhood illness.
Still, she always finds time for her family, sidekick Chihuahua, Pinky, and nearly impossible home renovation projects in her Rochester, NY home.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
