This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Pakistan is a country where you can't practice Arts and Music freely keeping in account the religious norms. Mr Shoaib graduated as a Computer Science grad but his never ending love for Arts brought him to start something for Arts in Country.
Shoaib Iqbal is a founder and director of The Little Art, a non-profit arts education organization that uses the medium of art to promote positive social values through innovative learning opportunities among children and young people, specially marginalized and from low income backgrounds. Through its programs, nearly 2,00,000 children and young people has benefitted in past 6 years. He founded Lahore International Children's Film Festival, Pakistan's largest children's festival. Shoaib has an experience of near 14 years of working as teacher, arts manager, theater director, workshop trainer and festival director. Shoaib is the recipient of 2006 Kennedy Center Fellowship at Devos Institute of Arts Management Washington D.C. and received 2009 Endeavour Executive Award from Australian government and became a Commonwealth Fellow. He holds a post-graduate in Arts Management from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Washington D.C. and a diploma in International Development from Eastside Institute, New York City. Shoaib is also selected as an Asia21 Young Leader by the Asia Society.
