Transforming American Innovation- Saving the Last T-Rex: Don Sebastian at TEDxNJIT

Donald H. Sebastian is the President and CEO of the New Jersey Innovation Institute, an NJIT Corporation. Created in 2014, NJII is a new model for business innovation that aligns the resources of universities to address the advanced technology development needs of key industrial sectors. Previously, under his leadership as NJIT's Sr.VP for R&D, the university's sponsored grew to $110 million. He has created a number of statewide entities including the NJ Healthcare Information Technology Extension Center, NJ Homeland Security Technology Systems Center, NJ Nanotechnology Consortium and the NJ Manufacturing Extension Program. Prior to joining NJIT in 1995, Professor Sebastian was a member of the Chemical Engineering faculty at Stevens Institute of Technology where he also as valedictorian of the class of 1974, followed by Masters of Engineering in 1975, and the Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 1977.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
