Dr. Rick Bogard is Associate Professor of Music/Trumpet and Chair of the Music Department at the University of Texas at Arlington. He is an accomplished, very talented and sought-after trumpet player with literally hundreds of prestigious performances, dozens of praised music recordings and countless contributions to learning musicians around the world. His passion to perform music that is not only beautiful to listen to, but also familiar to the average listener, led him and a colleague, Dr. John Solomons, to tackle the near nonexistence of 19th and early 20th century "pleasurable" solo trumpet repertoire. This endeavor resulted not only in a very well received music CD called "Trumpet Songs," but also in a significant contribution to the relatively new world of trumpet solo playing. Dr. Bogard holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in trumpet performance from the University of North Texas, a Master of Music in trumpet performance from Baylor University, and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Central Arkansas. In the spare time when he is not playing trumpet or doing anything music related, he loves to spend time with his wife and children.
