US presidential candidate Jill Stein fears regional war in the Middle East

US presidential candidate Jill Stein told TRT World that the Biden administration has allowed Israel to escalate its war in the Middle East with unchecked freedom, following the assassinations of Ismail Haniyeh, former Prime Minister of Palestine, chief of Hamas’ political bureau and lead peace negotiator and Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukur.

Stein, the Green Party presidential candidate, is among the rare US politicians vocally condemning Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide.

Arrested while she was protesting with pro-peace students in June 2024, Stein says she is being repressed by both parties and boycotted by the mainstream media for her Gaza human rights advocacy and her desire to challenge the political establishment.

Running for the third time in the US presidential race, she has a very low chance of winning, most polls giving her between 1 to 3 percent of the vote.

But 45 percent Arab Americans are planning to cast their vote for Stein, according to a survey conducted by ADC in July 2024.

Experts say her candidacy - along with other third-party and independent candidates such as Cornel West and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. - could tip the result of the election.
