Vice and Modern Man: Michael Howard at TEDxVUW

Michael Howard is a local performance poet. His poetry is absurd, unsentimental and best enjoyed with a pint. From sixty-three letter German words to competitive sack-racing, any topic is fair game for this wordsmith.

His talent was honed on the mean streets of Wellington, where the only escape from his harsh reality was in iambic pentameter and craft beer. This can be heard in his work's rhythmic, slightly boozy quality. He has also developed something of a reputation for excessive rhyming and terrible puns. For this he makes no apologies.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
